“In China, most people still believe the colour gold is an emblem of wealth, so they love to embellish themselves and sometimes will over-decorate their homes with objects from all over the world as a way to present themselves. They often never know if everything matches or they won’t even care. In this series we wanted to embrace the tackiness of this aesthetic. Some people might find it funny, others might find it pathetic. But we think there’s a new beauty behind these aesthetics; it’s a very personal thing and why not appreciate it.”
